The Board of Directors and Board Advisory Council receive no financial compensation other than reimbursement of reasonable expenses incurred and necessary in the performance of their duties on behalf of Loving Hearts Animal Society.
Board of Directors
New directors are nominated by the board Governance Committee and elected by the Board of Directors of Loving Hearts Animal Society.
The Governance Committee is currently seeking candidates for seats on the board who possess a professional background in financial planning, fundraising, animal welfare, or nonprofit business management. Previous board experience is preferred, but not required.
Term of Service
Members of the Board of Directors are elected to serve a term of one (1) year.
Board Meetings
The Board of Directors shall regularly meet on a quarterly schedule, every three (3) months, during the calendar year.
Powers and Duties
The Loving Hearts Animal Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation governed by a comprehensive set of bylaws and a Board of Directors who have the fundamental responsibility of establishing policy, providing financial oversight, and ensuring the organization’s fulfillment of its stated mission.
Board Advisory Council
Members of the Board Advisory Council are appointed by the President of Loving Hearts Animal Society.
Candidates are currently being sought who possess a professional background in financial planning, fundraising and animal welfare. Previous advisory council experience is preferred, but not required.
Term of Service
Members of the Advisory Council are invited to serve a term of one (1) year.
Council Meetings
The Board Advisory Council shall regularly meet as needed or required to assist and advise the board in the performance of their duties.
Powers and Duties
The Board Advisory Council shall not have nor exercise the authority, responsibility, or duties of the Board of Directors.
The purpose of the Board Advisory Council is to supplement the board’s skills and abilities, and make recommendations to assist and guide Loving Hearts Animal Society toward its stated mission.
